About the Business
Sherrard+Co. is a mortgage and finance broking business grounded in tailored support, genuine care and helping people make confident, informed financial decisions.
Based in Port Macquarie, I work with clients across the Mid North Coast and Australia, providing personalised guidance across home loans, refinancing, investment lending, personal lending, business finance, commercial lending and more complex scenarios.
The Story So Far
My finance career began in 2010 after more than a decade in hospitality management. Starting as a Teller and going on to work in personal lending, home lending and branch management with a Big Four bank and a community credit union.
After briefly returning to hospitality and helping run family businesses, I started my own finance-broking business in 2021. Broking brought me back to the part of finance I valued most: helping people identify opportunities to save money and make confident, informed financial decisions without being limited to one lender or driven by sales targets.
The business has always been my own, but it officially became Sherrard+Co. when I registered the trading name in 2025. The new name gave an established business an identity that better reflected how I already worked.
What’s in a Name?
When deciding on a business name, using my own name felt right. Clients don't choose us because of a business name; they choose to work with us because they value the personal approach, honest guidance and commitment to their goals. Sherrard is also a family name I am fiercely proud of and a quiet way of honouring my father.
Although I'm the sole broker, I could not do what I do without the support of my professional network. That is where the +Co. comes in. It recognises the business partners, aggregators, lenders, clients and community whose collaboration makes it possible for us to do what we do.
The + sign brings it all together: broker, clients and professional partners. Each brings something important, from lending knowledge and research to referrals and collaboration. Of course, it's also a maths symbol, and you have to love maths if you're going to be a broker.
Put together, the name reflects what the business is about: tailored support, genuine care, personalised finance guidance and strong partnerships, all working together toward the right outcome.

I combine finance expertise with hands-on business experience, including managing the financial and administrative side of hospitality businesses my partner and I owned and operated. My previous experience has helped me understand the practical challenges clients face and better identify options when their circumstances do not fit the standard box.

Beyond Finance
I share life with my partner, stepson and our English Staffy, Wilfrid. We welcomed Wilfrid at Easter, so we named him after St Wilfrid, who helped settle an early disagreement about how the date of Easter should be worked out.
My partner is a skilled chef who, like me, has transitioned out of hospitality. While we've left the industry, our love of quality dining experiences isn't going anywhere.
Outside work, I enjoy yoga, listening to mystery audiobooks, binge-watching historical period dramas or true-crime series, and music.
Music has been important to me since I was a kid. I started learning the clarinet when I was 10. A few years ago I returned to playing the clarinet with the Port Macquarie Hastings Municipal Band. I am not great, but it's the perfect social activity for a natural introvert.
Once I find an artist I love, I stay loyal and rarely stray far from my favourites. At the top of my playlist is The Whitlams, who I have been obsessed with since the late 1990s. I estimate that I have seen them at least 30 times, but honestly, I have lost count. Other favourites include Paul McCartney, who I have seen three times, Billy Joel, who I have seen twice, and George Michael, who I was lucky enough to see once.
Although trips are definitely less frequent these days, I still love travelling, seeing new places and trying new things. I lived in Scotland for two years in my late twenties and have travelled through Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland, Egypt and Turkey. Those experiences helped shape my curiosity about people, places and the different paths a life can take.
